Browse our 22 departments. Each runs both an academic teaching programme and patient-care services in the hospital — grouped by the MBBS curriculum stage.
The Department of Anatomy teaches gross anatomy, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy to first-year MBBS students through cadaveric dissection, an anatomy museum and modern teaching aids.
The Department of Physiology covers the normal functioning of human body systems with practicals and demonstrations for first-MBBS students, supported by clinical and research laboratories.
The Department of Biochemistry teaches molecular and clinical biochemistry and supports the hospital with diagnostic laboratory services and metabolic investigations.
The Department of Pathology provides histopathology, cytology, haematology and clinical-pathology diagnostic services alongside teaching for second-MBBS students.
The Department of Pharmacology teaches rational and safe drug use and houses the Adverse Drug Monitoring Centre (Pharmacovigilance) under the national programme.
The Department of Microbiology offers bacteriology, virology, serology and mycology diagnostics and supports hospital infection-control and antimicrobial stewardship.
The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology conducts medico-legal autopsies, handles toxicology and medical jurisprudence, and teaches medico-legal aspects of practice.
The Department of Community Medicine (PSM) drives preventive & social medicine, field practice through rural & urban health training centres, immunisation and national health programmes.
The Department of General Medicine runs adult inpatient and OPD services, intensive care (ICU/ICCU) and speciality clinics, and trains UG and PG students in clinical medicine.
The Department of General Surgery provides elective and emergency surgical care, including laparoscopy and trauma, with full operation-theatre and post-operative services.
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology offers antenatal care, labour-ward services, high-risk pregnancy management, gynaecological surgery and family-planning services.
The Department of Paediatrics provides child-health OPD, inpatient wards, NICU and PICU intensive care, immunisation and adolescent health services.
The Department of Ophthalmology provides comprehensive eye care through daily OPD and operation-theatre services across two units — cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea and paediatric ophthalmology — alongside community eye camps.
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) provides diagnosis and management of ear, nose and throat disorders, with audiology, endoscopy and surgical services.
The Department of Orthopaedics handles fractures, joint disorders, arthroscopy, joint-replacement surgery and rehabilitation, with a busy trauma service.
The Department of Anaesthesiology delivers safe peri-operative care, runs the pain clinic and supports critical care services across all operation theatres and ICUs.
The Department of Radiology offers a full range of imaging services — X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI — and interventional radiology procedures.
The Department of Psychiatry provides OPD and consultation-liaison services for mental-health conditions, child & adolescent psychiatry, de-addiction and counselling.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine handles pulmonary disorders, asthma, COPD, sleep medicine, NTEP/TB management and bronchoscopy services.
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (DVL) offers general dermatology, sexually-transmitted infections, leprosy care and cosmetic dermatology.
The OT & Physiotherapy department supports inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation across orthopaedic, neurological and post-surgical recovery.
The Department of Dentistry provides general dental OPD, preventive dentistry, oral surgery and prosthodontic services.
